WebP is supported by every current browser, but plenty of server-side systems were written before it existed. Form handlers that check MIME types against a fixed whitelist (image/jpeg,image/png), scanners that process uploaded documents, and legacy print or email pipelines frequently accept only JPEG. A file that previews perfectly in your browser can still be refused by the receiving system with a generic "invalid file type" message.
Converting back to JPEG restores universal compatibility and typically keeps the file small — JPEG remains the safest format whenever compatibility matters more than modern features like transparency (which JPEG does not support; transparent areas become white). Upload below and the editor opens with JPEG output pre-selected. If the form also states a size ceiling, add aTarget Size so conversion and compression happen in one pass — see the100KB compression page for how the target search works, or the step-by-step guide for the full workflow. Going the other way? Use convert JPG to WebP.
Decoding and re-encoding run locally in your browser — the file never leaves your device.
